Mathematics 9 Upgrade Course

Course Overview

This is a rigorous, self-paced online course designed for students seeking to transition into the Advanced Math 10 stream at Armbrae Academy. This program bridges key curricular gaps and ensures students possess the foundational mastery required for our advanced secondary mathematics track.

Topics include: linear relations, analytic geometry, algebra and measurement.

Academic Requirements & Success Criteria

Performance Threshold: A final grade of 75% or higher on the examination in this upgrade course is mandatory for enrollment in Advanced Math 10.
Time Commitment: Students should expect a minimum of 3 hours of daily work, including independent study, assignments, and assessments.
Assessment Structure: Evaluation is based on the regular submission of assignments, quizzes, and unit tests, culminating in a comprehensive in-person final examination.

Instructional Support

While the course is self-paced, students are supported by a dedicated instructor to guide them through the curriculum:

Feedback: Regular feedback provided on all submitted work and assessments.
Office Hours: Live virtual office hours are held every Friday for one hour.
Ongoing Guidance: The instructor is available for support via email and may be available for pre-arranged individual meetings as needed.

Final Examination

The final exam must be completed in person prior to the commencement of the academic year. Achievement of the 75% benchmark on this exam is the prerequisite for placement in the Advanced Math 10 program.

Topics include: linear systems, quadratic functions and equations, fractional and negative exponents radical and rational expressions.
